Specialized yes, but not viral. Facebook does a wonderful job of engaging groups at a very personal level, then the buck stop there. Facebook needs an integrated email application and phone service that draws people back to it's platform as Yahoo has done, which is why so many people still refer to their "homepage" as Yahoo. It's not that these people are wedded to Yahoo, but their email is and so is their first point of contact with the web. When Facebook and other social networks can integrate two-way communication and in-direct marketing within and outside of their platforms, the web will genuinely became a social web. Until then, technologists will keep working to creating the next central homepage of the web.
